Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is a practice for less stress and more energy, and who couldn’t use more of that?
Meaning “skill with energy”, Qigong has been an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 4,000 years. Created by Daoist sages who observed the ease of nature in contrast to the human tendency to want and grasp and all the mental, emotional, and stress that results, Qigong exercises dial back the effects of stress.
Through Qigong, we learn how to work with our own energy (Qi) to release stress, cultivate joy and boost our physical activity. Benefits include, but are not limited to, improved circulation, strengthening the muscles, and increases cardiovascular health. Improvements can be found in balance, spatial awareness, and mental focus as well as enhanced emotional intelligence.
Classes are appropriate for folks in any and all states of health. Movements are gentle and adaptable to suit anyone’s comfort and ability and can be made as challenging or as gentle as one wants to embrace.
WHAT TO BRING – Bare feet are encouraged for Qigong practice whenever possible. If you like a little cushioning, bring a yoga mat. Comfy clothing that is easy to move in is perfect for Qigong.
